Five minutes more ( A Morning Poem)

encouragement

Writing Prompt
How do you wake up? Do you spring out of bed, almost always fully rested or do you hit snooze? What is it like for you to wake up on a typical morning?

Five more minutes,
please just five more minutes,
well five or ten;
fifteen minutes tops.
I just need to be curled up
in my nest of blanks and pillows.
Let me relax for a little longer
I promise I will wake up
I will get up and shower.
I just need to be in bed
just a little big longer.
If I could I would
just stay in bed
with my covers over my head,
but no I promised.
I will wake,
but I need five minutes more.

Time for a Time Poem

poetry

Where did the time go?
It must have flown out the window,
yes out the window of my soul.
You see I saw time
it danced so merrily
but the dance was a slow waltz,
then I stopped watching it
that must have been when
it grew wings
and flew away
out the window of my soul
never to return.

Where did the time go, though?
Where did it fly to
and why can’t I be with it?
Did I hurt it like a wounded puppy,
or was it because I took it for granted.
I once thought it was a giant mountain
an endless journey
or even a bottomless pit of love.
Now I look around
and yes I have what remains
but in places I can see the ground.
I can see where time ought to be.

Still, time has flown away
and I do not know where to.
One day I will find out
where it flew to,
until then I will count my blessings
count my love and
cherish family along with my friends.
with or without the time to do it.

Out the Window (a very short story)

Looking out the window, watching the time roll by. I see long tall grass almost moving with the gentle ocean breeze. As the sand grows higher the grass grows short, until the grass is no more and only the tan sand remains.

The grass is replaced only briefly with fences used to block the wind when it rages up hard trying to destroy the beautiful beach. At this time the fence is simply used as markers of where the real beach starts.

People cross this line merrily and start to set up their day’s camp. The few groups that populate this quiet beach hope for the wind to carry the puffy clouds, that block the sun, away. In this moment the sand is damp and the sun can not dry it. Yet, the temperature is perfect for relaxing, along with not thinking of any problems that they may have.

The people on the beach only sit and watch the waves roll in then curl before crashing on the shore, slightly changing the beach with every surge.writing

As I hope you can tell this is a scene from my vacation. I wanted to challenge myself a little so I looked out pass the pouch and wrote what I saw. This was also written at the same time as my other beach scene post.
