The Sun is shining (A Happy Poem)

poetry

Does the sun shine only for me?
I wonder if you can even see.
The sun is bright
and gives such a warm light.

Does the sun shine only for me?
Or does it shine only for those near the sea?
The waves are rolling and crashing
and my happy beach memories are rehashing.

Does the sun shine only for me?
I ponder if it actually shines for that tree.
The one that is tall and mighty
who was made, like the sun, by the almighty.

No the sun shine for both you and me
It shines for those near the sea and the tree.
The sun shines for happiness
and I think it shines to impress
yes, to impress you and me.

The Sun Shines (a Kyrielle poem)

poetry
Kyrielle
A Kyrielle is a French form of rhyming poetry written in quatrains (a stanza consisting of 4 lines), and each quatrain has a repeating line or phrase as a refrain (usually appearing as the last line of each stanza). Each line within the poem consists of only eight syllables. There is no limit to the amount of stanzas a Kyrielle may have, but three is considered the accepted minimum.
Some popular rhyming schemes for a Kyrielle are: aabB, ccbB, ddbB, with B being the repeated line, or abaB, cbcB, dbdB.
Mixing up the rhyme scheme is possible for an unusual pattern of: axaZ, bxbZ, cxcZ, dxdZ, etc. with Z being the repeated line.
The rhyme pattern is completely up to the poet.

I dream of life worth living
one with a crazy love worth having
Where there is ice cream everyday
And the sun shines the gloom away

Is there such a life like that,
where you be relaxed like a cat
sitting in the sun for the day
And the sun shines the gloom away.

I could be happy how I am
smiling with joy at how I am
I don’t have to wait for one day
and the sun shines the gloom away.

Out the Window (a very short story)

Looking out the window, watching the time roll by. I see long tall grass almost moving with the gentle ocean breeze. As the sand grows higher the grass grows short, until the grass is no more and only the tan sand remains.

The grass is replaced only briefly with fences used to block the wind when it rages up hard trying to destroy the beautiful beach. At this time the fence is simply used as markers of where the real beach starts.

People cross this line merrily and start to set up their day’s camp. The few groups that populate this quiet beach hope for the wind to carry the puffy clouds, that block the sun, away. In this moment the sand is damp and the sun can not dry it. Yet, the temperature is perfect for relaxing, along with not thinking of any problems that they may have.

The people on the beach only sit and watch the waves roll in then curl before crashing on the shore, slightly changing the beach with every surge.writing

As I hope you can tell this is a scene from my vacation. I wanted to challenge myself a little so I looked out pass the pouch and wrote what I saw. This was also written at the same time as my other beach scene post.

Please, let me know what you think. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

no sleep

poetry

No, no you can not sleep

not when the sun-shines

not when the heat beats.

No there is no slumber

not when they day is bright

and the sun shines it’s light.

No, no you can not sleep

not until the night falls

and the sun sets.

No there is no sleep

not under the children closes their eyes

and the nights cools your tan.

Two Lanturne poems… Look Up

poetry

Lanturne

The Lanturne is a five-line verse shaped like a Japanese lantern with a syllabic pattern of one, two, three, four, one.

Sun
rises
over the
blue sky so high
sigh.

Touch
the sky
with your dreams
love your future
dream.

Since this was a short and sweet I wrote two.

Let me know what you think. Comments are always welcomed.

As a friendly reminder I am on vacation, so I am not doing my regular DreamWard Bound update post.

Friendship

I am really thankful for my friends today. Nothing major happened. I simply am thankful for them and all the ways they help me be the best me I can be, whether that is apartment search, giving support for my goals, being goofy or answering every question I ask.  Friendships are easy to take for granted, and it is easy to not realize how essential friendships are.

That being said, during my ten minutes of creativity today I wrote them a poem. Even though it does not have the words, “thank you” in it, this is my thank you poem to all the people I call friends (family, friend-family, and friends alike).

Why does the sun shine

and the grass grow?

Why does the wind blow

and I breathe?

The answer should be clear.

It is because you are near.

The sun shines bright

and days last longer

when you are smiling,

when you are laughing.

The grass grows greener

and the wind calms the storms for just a bit longer,

when you my friend are living along side me.

Happiness brings the sun out

even on a cloudy day;

the grass grows

even in a drought

when friendship is sought.

I can breathe with ease

because the wind calms the storms

when you stand close.

What a wonderful life

when friendship can be seen.

Sunshine and rain

I woke early to a new day,
woke with an odd thought in my head,
woke with the idea of you close by.
Yes, I woke believing you were near,
but as my eyes opened
the dream faded
and I was alone with my pillows.
I was only sleeping in my bed.

Still this made me wonder
made me think,
made me ask
do you believe in me?
Do you look at the grey and cold sky
and see the sunshine?
Do you stand in the rain
and know the sun is out?
In your night can you feel my day?

You may be as far as the moon is from the sun
but there is still a moon
and I still see the sun.
In the storm and the rain,
I will see sunshine.
I will stay awake at night,
so that I can feel your day.

Feb. 1 beauty

I sit on the cliffs of California in the warm winter’s sun. It’s only February 1st and most of the country is covered in snow or at least cold. However, I am sitting in a t-shirt with my shoes off enjoying the sun warming my skin and the fresh ocean breeze. The ocean’s waves tickle the cliffs, rocks and the shore that surrounds me. I hear giggles from girls swimming near by and can watch healthy people job by. I sit and watch the beauty of nature and people intermingle. I sit and realize how amazingly beautiful life can be if you take time to watch it walk by. I realize and remember why I came back and why this spot among all other spots in the world is my own paradise. I can breathe in this spot and watch so much life dance around me on a warm winter day.
