Simply Sharing Gratitude

simply sharing gratitude

I’m a big believer that having a grateful attitude in life will help you have a more positive life. When you practice being grateful, you look for things you can be grateful for. This makes you look at and for the good in your life. Even if the only thing you can see at first is the fact that you are alive, that is a wonderful start.

If you follow me on social media or here you know that a few weeks ago I posted a list of journaling prompts I go through almost every day. One of those prompts was to list things I’m grateful for. Some days they are profound and deep. Other days I list things like coffee, tea, pens, and my bed. Those are still good things that I am thankful to have, and that is really what it’s all about.

Now I want to share with you a few things I am currently grateful for as examples and also to simply share my gratitude with others.

I am currently grateful for:

  • Connections I’ve been on social media and online.
  • My Church.
  • Those I call family and friends.
  • My ability to express myself.

Blessed (A Poem)

poetry

I work all day
run errands on my free days
and I am blessed.
I see the benefits of my striving
I the fruits of my labor.

I walked down the warm beach
with the setting sun
giving off the warm happy light
telling every creature that they are loved.
I see animals playing
people loving
and families growing closer together.
I am blessed.

What did I do to earn
the beauty of the sun reflecting on the sea,
the warm crisp scene
being painted by the sun, sand and rocks
the smiling strangers who stay
and those who happily jog on by.
What could I have done
to see the sheer beauty of cliffs
as the sun turns the ordinary into a master piece
earth is a work of art
and so clearly seen
when the sun starts to hug the horizon
and glistens off the sea.
I am blessed.

I am so blessed
to be able to see
appreciating all the wonders around
and live in a world so beautiful
being able to feel warmth
and notice love.
I am so blessed
to be able to live my life.

Thank you (A Gratitude Poem)

poetry

Thank you for looking
and reading
and seeing
into my soul
into my heart.

Thank you for living
and laughing
and loving
with me
around me
and far from me.

Thank you for being
the person you use to be
who made you to the person you are
and is pushing you to be the person you will be.

Thank you for viewing
and supporting
visiting and liking
what I do
who I am
and how I do things.

Thank you.

Here is a fast but from the heart poem. Let me know what you think and if you are reading this, this poem is for you. I am truly grateful for every person who follows me and every view.

I hope you have a wonderful day and let me know what you think.

Late fourth of July post

My first flight to North Carolina was filled with Soldiers. Like myself they got to the gate early and I was able to watch and listen to them. In serving together they had become to at least act as a large family. They joked, teased and talked like they were a loving family. One reoccurring theme in their conversations was how excited and happy they were to be going home. They were a family but it was clear that they missed their own families. One had a son that was potty training. One talked on the phone to her mom. Another talked about partying with friends when he got back to his hometown. A few others talked about their girlfriends or called them on their phone.

The conclusion I made through all of these small interaction is that these people love deeply. They love their families and friends. They love their soldier family, their battle-mates. They also love their country deeply. They must, because they would not leave the ones they loved if they didn’t. They would not risk everything or sacrifice time away from their home, from where their loved ones and life are, if they did not love their country. Soldiers are very loving, noble, and brave. I am very thankful for this fact on July fourth, and today.

Thank you, to all the men and women who served and still serve this country. I am very grateful for every soldier of this country.

Stated Song: Jesus, Friend Of Sinners.

This week’s monologue was taken from Casting Crown’s song Jesus, Friend Of Sinners. This song was written by Casting Crowns in 2011 and recorded on Come To The Well under Provident Label Group . The link to the music video is youtube.com  and their website is castingcrowns.com.

I love the song and have heard it a bunch of times, so figured it would be a good song to do. I hope you enjoy it.

I also tried something a little different for the intro and closing, so feedback will be great appreciated.

Friendship

I am really thankful for my friends today. Nothing major happened. I simply am thankful for them and all the ways they help me be the best me I can be, whether that is apartment search, giving support for my goals, being goofy or answering every question I ask.  Friendships are easy to take for granted, and it is easy to not realize how essential friendships are.

That being said, during my ten minutes of creativity today I wrote them a poem. Even though it does not have the words, “thank you” in it, this is my thank you poem to all the people I call friends (family, friend-family, and friends alike).

Why does the sun shine

and the grass grow?

Why does the wind blow

and I breathe?

The answer should be clear.

It is because you are near.

The sun shines bright

and days last longer

when you are smiling,

when you are laughing.

The grass grows greener

and the wind calms the storms for just a bit longer,

when you my friend are living along side me.

Happiness brings the sun out

even on a cloudy day;

the grass grows

even in a drought

when friendship is sought.

I can breathe with ease

because the wind calms the storms

when you stand close.

What a wonderful life

when friendship can be seen.
