Look For Me (A Poem)

Do not look for me
in the ashes of who I once was.
I will not be found there.
I am in the memories you hold dear
and the jokes we once shared.
I am in the love you have
and the breeze that moves among the trees.
So, do not look for me
in the ashes of who I once was.
Note About The Poem

Sometimes I write poetry for fun or to uplift others. Sometimes I write poems to explain something that is going on internally. Most poems that I share are positive or ends with hope. Look For Me is a different kind of poem.

I wrote Look For Me in August 2019, while I was in Massachusetts helping my family prepare for my brother’s memorial service. It may not be happy, but I do hope it comforts you if you are grieving.

I Believed (A Poem)

“I Believed” is a poem about my relationship with theater and my beliefs. They have changed over the year, but one thing remains true the stage is part of me.

I don't think I ever truly believed;
not in what was given to me,
not in what I once chose.
No I don't think I ever truly believed
in Wicca, in paganism.

No I didn't believe
in the magic of nature;
not fully,
not until I saw a creator.

What I truly believe in was the stage.
The lights and sound.
I truly and fully believed
in the magic of theatre,
the constructed fantasies.

I truly believed in
standing tall and giving it my all,
shedding reality showing my soul
with words written, but not my own.

Yes,I believed in the stage,
but confusion of a new life,
in the growing to be an adult.
I forgot.
I turned from my first love
as though a choice had to be made,
as though it was the Creator or the stage.
Not realizing the creator made me for the stage.
Not realzing that all of me deserves to breathe.

Now I believe
There is a Creator up above,
who smiles and loves
when I take the stage and am all of me.
Now I believe
in all of me.

Second-Hand Love Poem To Love Excerpt

Second-Hand Love (Excerpt from To Love)

To Know First

As part of promoting my book To Love, I will be sharing a few excerpts for the book. These will include both the main chapters, which I call ‘sub-letters’ and the creative pieces that I mixed in.

My heart desires to write a love song
so deep, so true;
one that brings tears
or makes you say, “oh my dear.”
Desire fills me to write words
that could move mountains
or the hardest soul.
Darling, please urge yourself to weep,
as my romantic heart breaks,
because the only love I've known
seems to have been a mistake.
It was far away,
long ago and healed with time.

The heart that broke is no longer mine.
The love I knew is a faded dream,
a distant mystery;
nearly hidden
in the darkened valley of the changed girl.
Yes, I loved once,
but it was not deep, not true,
so how can I tell you of love?
What romance can I give,
except second-hand?

To Love The Poem excerpt from book

To Love: The Poem (An Excerpt)

As part of promoting my book To Love, I will be sharing a few excerpts for the book. These will include both the main chapters, which I call ‘sub-letters’ and the creative pieces that I mixed in. This first excerpt is the opening of the book. It is “To Love: The Poem”

What does it mean to love?
How does it look to love?
Do you know the way to love?
Could you point me down a path to love?

I hope to love.
I look at what it means to love.
I dream of finding my way to love
I search for answers to love.
I do long to love,
so I write to love.

The Road (A Poem)

The road is long.
The path is hard,
and I keep thinking
I haven't gone far yet.

Maybe I'm good,
but need to be great.
Perhaps I'm struggling in vain
and being an artist is not my fate.

I could run.
I could hide,
but then there'd be
a deadly gnawing inside.

So I'll stay my course
and walk my path.
Perhaps one day I'll look back,
see my struggles, and laugh.

Depart Oh Darkness (A Poem)

Depart oh darkness.
You are not welcomed here.
Storm I will not surrender to thee.
You can let me be.

I am not a flower.
I am a tree.
Though you may try
I will not bend, break, or die.

I am here to stay,
so depart oh darkness.
You are not welcomed here.
Storm I will not surrender to thee.
You can let me be.

Without You (A Poem)

A tiger can be caged.
A bird can live without flight,
and I can live without you.

He can hold his breath.
She can close her eyes,
and I can live without you.

Life will go on.
I will see the storms and sunshine,
and I can live without you.

But something inside longs to thrive.
Something inside longs to be free
and can only be when I live with you.

Tiffany Joy Poetry Readings

Poetry Readings

I, Tiffany Joy, have started a new YouTube project. You must all be absolutely shocked! I do always feel like I’m starting new projects. This one is part of my efforts to promote what I’ve already written, by recording readings of my work. I’ve started by recording my poetry readings.

Most of the poems are from my book Growing Poems. I am starting to mix in my newer poetry that I published here.

I figured that I would share my favorites with those who either have stumbled on my site or frequent it more that Youtube. I’ll also be sharing this on my social media accounts, so I guess the post will just be spreading the word more.

Now onto the Poetry Readings

The first is one of my newer poems, but the first reading. It is called, “To Those Who Struggle.” For personal reasons, I needed to share this first. After all I always meant to have it as a reading.

Poems and Memories is a poem I wrote right after I realized what I was going to be calling my first poetry book. It reflects the idea of poems growing and being part of me.

Lady Isabella is again from my poetry book and is about my dog. I wrote it as her life was ending and it has always been a hard one for me to read. However, I do love it.

The last poem is Power. It is also from my poetry book. It is a 3 stanza poem that I wrote in college about a relationship.

There is a complete playlist of all my poetry readings, including older ones, on YouTube.

Note: This is the entire playlist.

I hope you enjoyed my poetry readings, as much as I enjoyed making them. Feel free to give me any feedback you have. All is welcomed.

Slow Down Sunshine (A Poem)

She said slow down sunshine
you have all your life to live.
Slow down sunshine
you have all your love to give,
so slow down sunshine
let your mind be inactive.
Simply slow down sunshine.

This is a journey not a race,
there is no medal to win;
no champion to face.
You can do all you want
in time you will see.
Enjoy what you have now
before it becomes a memory.
All you need to do is slow down.

She said slow down sunshine
you have all your life to live.
Slow down sunshine
you have all your love to give,
so slow down sunshine
let your mind be inactive.

This is another poem that started it’s journey as a song.

Seasonal (A Poem)

I don't want a seasonal type of lover
one whose love will change and fall.
No, I don't want a seasonal type of lover.
I want nothing or I want it all,
so jump into my river.
I'll take you to the ocean of me.

I don't want a seasonal type of lover
one whose love will change and fall.
I want someone who will stay
a love whose love will be strong,
so come behind my mask
and watch my wall crumble down.

I don't want a seasonal type of lover
one who's love will change and fall.

This was originally written as a song and in the future it may become one again. For now I hope you enjoy it as a poem.
