Patter Of Rain: A Poem

Patter Of Rain
Listen to the patter of the rain.
It feeds the thirday earth,
changing the dried tan field
to a plush green meadow;
a blanket of love.
Turned on a faucet above
caused life to bloom
so shortly after its gloom.
It washes away the past
giving hope to thefuture.
All is right with the world
so listen to the patter of the rain.

main UnZipped Surrealism painting art write up

Unzipped (Art Write-Up)

Title: Unzipped
Size: 14 x 11
Medium: Acrylic paint on Canvas
Finished Date: Early 2017
Summary:  Unzipped  is my first surrealism painting came when rains came after a long drought. The change in weather gave new life to the land and showed me that life can be renewed even after a long rest and struggle.

Write Up

Inspired by surrealism I painted an image that came to be while driving home after a rain storm.

California was is a drought and before the rains came everything looked dead and dry. We then had heavy rain fro at least two weeks. It seemed like the days the rains stopped nature came back to life. Everything was green and colorful again.

It was as though the sky unzipped and brought life back.

In this painting I captured the wonderful feeling that the rain brought. It was as though we were transported to a different land.

Over half the painting has blues and greens with touches of red, yellow and a bit of brown. The other half, where the rain has not reached, is filled with gray and tan. There is no life vegetation where there is no rain.

The could that is being unzipped also takes up a large portion of the dry section. It gives a hope that the rain is coming, but also shows that more focus is on the rain when there isn’t any.

This painting is split, but should give you hope. Rain will come when it is needed and breath new life into the same land, so even if things seem gloomy, dark, and dead keep the hope alive. Life can be renewed.

I Am A Soggy Bagel

bagel (2)

Today I got dressed up. I felt like I needed to look good. I wanted to take extra time for myself, so in the morning I woke up early. I put on my new cream cheese spread and wore heels. I even did my make-up. I was looking amazing if I do say so myself.

I started my car and went to work. I was on the highway when it started to rain and then I got a flat tire. I pulled over to change the tire. As soon as my car was safely on the side of the highway the clouds fully opened up. Have you ever seen a bagel in high heels changing a tire when it was raining buckets? I am sure I was amusing the drivers with all four tires intact that drove by. I just know it was not fun changing that tire and I was almost instantly soggy. After a few nice people did stop to help I finally had my tire changed to the spare.

I stopped, soaking wet, at a tire store. They changed the spare out for a new regular tire and I was off to work, again. The only real different was that I was no longer fancy or looking amazing. I was simply a soggy bagel in heels.

Paradox of Life (poetic random thoughts)

writing

I love my life
yet I fight for it to change.
I work towards my dreams
that may force my loved ones away.
I am happy with myself
but am always changing.

It’s like
the night wishing to be the day,
sunshine wishing to be the rain,
the light wishing to be darkness.

I strive to change
when there is no need.
I work towards a new life
when my own is wonderful.
It must be how I am wired
always looking for better
when I already have greatness
searching for more love
when love is already overflowing
and looking for sunshine
when there is not a cloud in the day’s sky.

Yes, I love my life
yet I fight for it to change.
I work towards my dreams
that may force my loved ones away.
I am happy with myself
but am always changing.

This is what is going on in my head right now. It’s part wondering and part simply realizing, I have a good life, yet I still am looking for more.

Naani

poetry

Naani

Naani is one of India’s most popular Telugu poems. Naani means an expression of one and all. It consists of 4 lines, the total lines consists of 20 to 25 syllables. The poem is not bounded to a particular subject. Generally it depends upon human relations and current statements. This poetry was introduced by one of the renowned Telugu poets Dr. N.Gopi, presently working as vice-chancellor to Telugu University, Andhra Pradesh.

I smile instead of cry

I laugh instead of yell

For what good are tears and shouts

When it ‘s raining out?

This was an interesting one. I like the end product. What do you think?

Poetic reading (Sunshine and Rain

The other day I recorded my poetry reading for the first time. I am hoping to record more and become more creative with the video, but this is a start. Today’s video is Sunshine and Rain, which I posted on here earlier in the year. I have edited, recorded and posted it for your enjoyment… I hope you enjoy it.  Below you will find the full edited poem. Please let me know what you think.

Sunshine And Rain

I woke to a new day,
woke with a thought,
woke with a hope
of you close by.
Yes, I woke with you were near.
but as my eyes opened
the dream faded
and I was alone.

This made me wonder
made me think,
do you believe in me?
Do you look at the grey, cold sky
and see the sunshine?
Do you stand in the rain
and feel sun beams?
In your night can you feel my day?

You may be far far away
as far as the moon is from the sun
but there is still a moon
and I still see the sun.
In the storm and the rain,
I will see sunshine.
I will stay awake at night,
so that I can feel your day.
And until the sun and moon meet
I will believe in you

Sunshine and rain

I woke early to a new day,
woke with an odd thought in my head,
woke with the idea of you close by.
Yes, I woke believing you were near,
but as my eyes opened
the dream faded
and I was alone with my pillows.
I was only sleeping in my bed.

Still this made me wonder
made me think,
made me ask
do you believe in me?
Do you look at the grey and cold sky
and see the sunshine?
Do you stand in the rain
and know the sun is out?
In your night can you feel my day?

You may be as far as the moon is from the sun
but there is still a moon
and I still see the sun.
In the storm and the rain,
I will see sunshine.
I will stay awake at night,
so that I can feel your day.
