The Sun Shines (a Kyrielle poem)

poetry
Kyrielle
A Kyrielle is a French form of rhyming poetry written in quatrains (a stanza consisting of 4 lines), and each quatrain has a repeating line or phrase as a refrain (usually appearing as the last line of each stanza). Each line within the poem consists of only eight syllables. There is no limit to the amount of stanzas a Kyrielle may have, but three is considered the accepted minimum.
Some popular rhyming schemes for a Kyrielle are: aabB, ccbB, ddbB, with B being the repeated line, or abaB, cbcB, dbdB.
Mixing up the rhyme scheme is possible for an unusual pattern of: axaZ, bxbZ, cxcZ, dxdZ, etc. with Z being the repeated line.
The rhyme pattern is completely up to the poet.

I dream of life worth living
one with a crazy love worth having
Where there is ice cream everyday
And the sun shines the gloom away

Is there such a life like that,
where you be relaxed like a cat
sitting in the sun for the day
And the sun shines the gloom away.

I could be happy how I am
smiling with joy at how I am
I don’t have to wait for one day
and the sun shines the gloom away.

DreamWard Bound (week of July 19- July26)

success

As I start to wake up on this Sunny Saturday I’m finding it hard to get out of bed. It’s not because I don’t want to do this the things I am going to do today. I am plan on recording seven poetry readings and two original monologues, that I will be able to post during the week. I am plan to buy a new camcorder today, as a reward for meeting my goal of a weekly video and blog for two months. I also plan on painting a background painting for my twitter, Facebook, and this blog’s header, to join all my sites together. I’m looking forward to these things, I just don’t want to start the day. Yet, the day has to start so I will start it now.

Now onto this past week.

I am still trying to get back into the swing of things and getting back on my schedule with writing and creating. I did write some, but my television shows dragged me into a state of unproductive behavior. I still did write a poem and made sure that there was a post every day.  Most of the posts were left over from my vacation, but I still edited them this week and posted them.

This next week should be interesting since I will be recording so many poetry readings and videos today, that I’m excited to do. I am also excited because starting this week the DreamWard Bound series will become more useful. I am going to  stop posting every video that I make on this blog and have this blog focused on my writing more. Instead I will post the videos I did during the week here, under “the list of things I posted this week,” or whatever I decide to call my recap list that week. This change will free up some of my time and organize this blog.

If you have watched all my videos on this blog, you can still check to see if I posted things here. You will just have to look under my twitter or Facebook page, which is now on the side menu bar. You can also follow me on either one using those widgets. The twitter one you simply have an extra step of clicking on my name then you can click follow, if you are logged into twitter. I typically use them to post announcements of my videos being posted on YouTube (which you can also follow me on).

Where Magic May Grow (Kyrielle Sonnet)

poetry

Kyrielle Sonnet

A Kyrielle Sonnet consists of 14 lines (three rhyming quatrain stanzas and a non-rhyming couplet). Just like the traditional Kyrielle poem, the Kyrielle Sonnet also has a repeating line or phrase as a refrain (usually appearing as the last line of each stanza). Each line within the Kyrielle Sonnet consists of only eight syllables. French poetry forms have a tendency to link back to the beginning of the poem, so common practice is to use the first and last line of the first quatrain as the ending couplet. This would also re-enforce the refrain within the poem. Therefore, a good rhyming scheme for a Kyrielle Sonnet would be:

AabB, ccbB, ddbB, AB -or- AbaB, cbcB, dbdB, AB.

Can I fly over the green trees?
Can I swim pass the open seas
To a land I do not yet know
Where magic may live and may grow.

What wonders and what sounds may be sung?
What treasures and gems may be flung
on the land where I want to go?
Where magic may live and may grow.

Will you take me some where magical?
Can we try to be radical
living where music freely flows
Where magic may live and may grow.

Can I fly over the green trees
Where magic may live and may grow.

Mindless Monologue

writing

As I mindlessly stir my single serve coffee in a Styrofoam cup with a small red plastic straw I think to myself, “Do others narrate their mundane tasks, as they wait for the next event in their story to unfold? Am I odd to dream in vivid detail about meeting a famous actor who could jump-start my career in the middle of a random vacation? Do others yell from their souls, ‘notice me’ with no one hearing, because they do not actually use words.”

If only you could see into my mind you’ll know all the silly questions I ask when no one is listening. You would also see countless pictures I do not have time to paint, along with numerous stories waiting in line to be written as if each main character is waiting in a dimly lit hallway with no other door. If you could see into my mind you would also see an army of poems dancing around scripts that are also waiting to be shared with the world. Sometimes there are fights in my mind because all my stories, poems, paintings, dances, and yes scripts want to see the light of day, they want to be born into reality. However, just like everything in this world things take time to develop and be turned into reality.

So, they wait in my mind. They wait where you can not see them, just like I can not see into your mind, which is why I will continue to ask questions, write my stories, and dream my dreams that line up and pile up in my mind. Maybe when they are all out you will be able to answer the question, “is my mind normal?” Just know that if the answer is no then I will smile and say, “good.”

Until you can answer all my silly questions I will sip away my coffee and make my life more interesting via narrating the boring parts, like sitting on an airplane sipping and stirring my single serve coffee.

This is the last post I wrote while on vacation, from now on it will be all current writings.

I hope you enjoyed a glimpse into my mind and thank you for reading.

Plane Poem

poetry

Let me look down
Through the sky
pass the puffed up clouds
Let me look down
on all the little towns
If you let me
I will imagine my life
what dream lives could I live
in every little town.

I’m flying by
so many tiny little town
I’m flying by
these towns that are so small
these towns are so far away
Still I will imagine
I will dream

Life in these towns are simple and neat
most are flat
Life in these towns are simple and neat
some are designed
All are American with apple pie shops
In the center of town there is a square
with a Quartet that signs every sunny summer Sunday

It’s a shame that you can only fly over
no one can land
not in these tiny little town
that only truly lives in a dreamer’s dream

Let me know what you think and thank you for reading.

Info On My YouTube Intro

Yesterday in between serving at my church I recorded an introduction video for YouTube. I realize that I will need to record this video again, but it is something at least.

I almost did not do it, then I almost did not get a chance to edit it. I had a million excuses not to, but then a quiet nudge reminded me that if I did not record this video it would be the first week (with the exception of my vacation week) that I would miss a recording since I started that goal. I was tired from waking up early, did not have anything really prepared, then my camera died before I was really finish.

Still I edited it together the best I could and uploaded it to YouTube. I watched it again to make sure that I was comfortable in publishing it and you know what it’s not as bad as I thought. However, I want to know what you think. Is it entertaining or informational? Does it make you want to know more or at least pay a bit of attention to my channel?

Here is the video, let me know what you think.

DreamWard Bound (week of July 12- July 19,2014)

success

As  most of you know I went on a week-long vacation last week. As I stated in my “I’m Back” post I got a bunch of writing done. I still have a few more things that I will be posting, but I edited and copied them on this blog all in one day. The lack of finishing posting the other posts is because I was switched over to a normal employee at work, instead of being in training mode, which meant more work at my day job causing me to be burnt out when I got home.

I also took an evening to change-up the site a bit. I realized that my footer was very hard to see in the last layout so moved it to the sidebar. I also took away the image header, since I’ve posted images in each post.

That is all I did this week though, so here is some things that I am planning.

The first thing is that I will be recording a video later today that will explain what my YouTube channel is for. I will also be inviting my audience to give me suggestions of things they want to see, which you are welcome to do here, also. This video will be the start of a revamping of the channel. It will be more focused in a way, but also more freed. My idea is that I will use YouTube as an extension to this blog, which means there will be more truly original stuff there. I will be reading my poems, short stories, original monologues, and talking about my journey.

With these changes, this blog will be seeing a few changes. Your likes or comments will be how I choose what original content I will be recording. Plus, you will be seeing more video (hopefully). I will also be trying do write more. Basically I will be trying to do more than I have. I have a long way to go to reach my end goals and will be pushing towards that.

I will also be starting a more interactive series on YouTube that will have you and my watchers picking what I write. I will record short little videos that explain a story idea. Each video will have a main character idea, basic plot idea, and what I envision the final project to be. At the end of each video I will ask if you would want to see or read it. If some one does, I will write that story and unless it’s a novel or a script that I can actually make I will post it here.

My focus is on growing my YouTube channel right now because that is where I have the most to grow. I write, post and am getting views on this site already. Right now, with this blog I feel like I just have to keep on keeping on. My YouTube channel is in rough shape and it’s time to make it better.

Now for my long list of what I posted this week.

Self-Searching

How do I see myself? Who do I want to be? Where am I now and how do I need to go?

I am still searching, still living the best I know how. I seem to need to be shown a way and to be guided down the right path. The only thing I know is that I am God’s girl.

Maybe I’m where I’m meant to be or maybe I have miles to go. I’m not sure so I will let God lead my way. I just want to end my journey at his home.

*

I would not be who I am without taking the steps I took. I would not be me if I found what I was looking for in the beginning. If there was an easy way to go, an easier path to take. I would not be the same person if there was not fight, no struggle to get the things I really want.

If I found my true love in college or at a bar I would try to hold on too tight and be forced to watch it crumble apart, broken by the pressure my heart would cause. I would not have known who I was, if I was not forced to learn about me on my own.

If I meant a producer or director on an airplane and he gave me the best role ever I would not know what to do. My nerves would wreck the abilities that are growing inside and I would be laughed out of my career. If I got it the easy way I would not have realized how much I really wanted it. If my art was not a fight I would not know how much I love it.

Yes, if my dreams would come true with ease in a moment I would ruin it too much for me  to bear. So I will be happy working and striving towards my goals. I will take one step after the other and work on being me. That way my dreams will not be my dreams, but goals that I will earn and work towards. If I work for them I will not be overwhelmed and I will be the person I am working towards being. They will be milestones in my path instead of the end of a dream.success

Thoughts on Flying

I normally don’t do posts on tips or help articles. I usually don’t give advice because this blog is about my art and what brings me joy. I would rather share my love and my journey, rather than tell anyone how to do things better. Well, if everyone I meet while flying does these things I would be very happy.

These are just little things that irked me, that I think should be common sense while you are on a flight.

1.) When you are boarding a flight and waiting for your zone to be called do not stand in a line formation near the actual boarding line. The line is slow enough and waiting around just blocks the people who can actually board, causing the process to be even longer.

2.) It is okay to ask people to rearrange, especially if you are a friendly soldier. I simply ask that you make sure you are sitting in the right seat. I will move and take any seat you want, but when it’s a late flight and you are in the wrong it just takes longer for everyone to get settled in. Yet, I am not that upset, because they were soldiers and really friendly.

3.) If you are a couple  with someone else in the window seat do not cross over to the other person’s area, at all. Lean into your significant other. If it is an over night flight and you cross over expect to at least be nudged. On that note, I am sorry to the lady who crossed over my bubble, for elbowing you while I slept. Well, I’m sort of sorry, but I can’t be held responsible for reacting to a personal bubble intruder while I was sleeping.

4.) Be friendly and smile. You never know who you’ll meet, where they’re from, why they are traveling or what a simple smile means to them. They could be coming from a long way away, causing them to be tired. They could hate flying and have anxiety. Whether they are worn, exhausted, or simply traveling everyone can use a single serving friends. If nothing more you may learn something new.

While writing the first draft I thought I would have more tips by coming home, but I guess that is it. Be friendly, think about others and pay attention.

I hope you enjoyed this little rambling about what to do while flying and let me know what you think.

no sleep

poetry

No, no you can not sleep

not when the sun-shines

not when the heat beats.

No there is no slumber

not when they day is bright

and the sun shines it’s light.

No, no you can not sleep

not until the night falls

and the sun sets.

No there is no sleep

not under the children closes their eyes

and the nights cools your tan.
