Where Are You? (A Poem)

where are you? (a poem)
God, where are you
when the world seems dark?
Lord, where are you
when I've lost my way?
Savior, where are you
when I feel alone?
My King, where are you
when your throne seems far away?
Father Above, where are you
when my heart breaks and turns numb?
Father Above, My King, Savior, Lord, and God
where are you in this day?

God, you are the light of a new day.
Lord, you are the dim lamp that lights my way.
Savior, you are the one holding me up.
My King, you are by my side.
Father Above, you are hugging me tight.
Father Above, My King, Savior, Lord, and God
you are with me making day from my night.

Typically, I publish my poetry towards the end of the month not in the middle of it. However, I really loved how Where Are You came out and couldn’t wait to share this poem with the world.

Sometimes you can’t see God and feel alone. However, He is always there. Most of the time you just have to look for Him. Know He loves you and He is with you.

Don’t Buy My Heart (A Poem)

Don't agree with me
when you know we can't be.
Don't stand too close
when my religion feels lost.
Don't buy my heart
when you know one day we will part.

For cuddling seems to near
and that is one thing I fear.
Having the possibility
of home among your arms,
not wanting to release you from my own.

I forget my reasoning,
the excuses are dispearing.
I am alone with the thought
that my heart you may have already bought,
with your laughter and joy
with your friendship and smile
with your intelligence and being loyal
and that would mean all my plans are foiled.
Because the list of how you bought my heart,
well, that could go on for miles.

Don't agree with me
when you know we can't be
So don't buy my heart
when you know one day we will part.

Write Up

This is a fun and fast painting I did one day. I wanted to try out a new style as an experiment to see how it would work. It turned out cute and delightful painting of a purple cartoon flower. I enjoy the black border and thick outlines on the heart flower and hills. Although it is more of a cartoon style it still has my style in it, which I of course also like.

New Day Painting

In April 2014 I took a day to relax and paint. I decided to record myself as I painted outside on a lovely day. I created my painting “New Day,” on that lovely day. Once I finished the painting I took the recording and sped it up so that about 2 hours of work fit into under 3 minutes of video. It’s fun to see the painting come to life right before your eyes.

Look For Me (A Poem)

Do not look for me
in the ashes of who I once was.
I will not be found there.
I am in the memories you hold dear
and the jokes we once shared.
I am in the love you have
and the breeze that moves among the trees.
So, do not look for me
in the ashes of who I once was.
Note About The Poem

Sometimes I write poetry for fun or to uplift others. Sometimes I write poems to explain something that is going on internally. Most poems that I share are positive or ends with hope. Look For Me is a different kind of poem.

I wrote Look For Me in August 2019, while I was in Massachusetts helping my family prepare for my brother’s memorial service. It may not be happy, but I do hope it comforts you if you are grieving.

Slow Down Sunshine (A Poem)

She said slow down sunshine
you have all your life to live.
Slow down sunshine
you have all your love to give,
so slow down sunshine
let your mind be inactive.
Simply slow down sunshine.

This is a journey not a race,
there is no medal to win;
no champion to face.
You can do all you want
in time you will see.
Enjoy what you have now
before it becomes a memory.
All you need to do is slow down.

She said slow down sunshine
you have all your life to live.
Slow down sunshine
you have all your love to give,
so slow down sunshine
let your mind be inactive.

This is another poem that started it’s journey as a song.

Seasonal (A Poem)

I don't want a seasonal type of lover
one whose love will change and fall.
No, I don't want a seasonal type of lover.
I want nothing or I want it all,
so jump into my river.
I'll take you to the ocean of me.

I don't want a seasonal type of lover
one whose love will change and fall.
I want someone who will stay
a love whose love will be strong,
so come behind my mask
and watch my wall crumble down.

I don't want a seasonal type of lover
one who's love will change and fall.

This was originally written as a song and in the future it may become one again. For now I hope you enjoy it as a poem.

I do have more poems on my site and poetry readings on YouTube.

Blessed Are ( A Poem)

Blessed are the broken

for they get to be fix.

Blessed are the outcasts

for they’ll learn true love.

Blessed are the reformed hurtful

they’ll know forgiveness.

Blessed are those with a surrendered and dirty heart

they are in the Lord’s arms.

Blessed are those with clean hearts

the Lord will call them home.

Blessed are those who bless others

they will shine the Lord’s love.

Blessed are those who forgiveness

they will share the Lord’s compassion.

Blessed are you

for you are beautifully alive.

Testimony – God Shows Up

My true Christian life started on the cliffs in California.

I had moved to California with four friends after I graduated from college. We moved here for freedom, fun, and the beautiful weather. There was no positive thoughts of God or religion. The group of us didn’t really talk about that stuff much.

After 3 months of living in a pretty chaotic house together and struggling, things began to change. We all smoked and I did not think much about what at the time was a random stoner conversation that would eventually be the catalyst for the change.  The group decided it would be good to do a spiritual exploration study. Each of us were going to study a religion to find out what they all had in common.

Only the person who took Christianity actually studied. He soon decided to go to a local church.

One night he and another housemate had a conversation. By the end of the night God showed up and made Himself real to that friend.

The next day my life truly changed

The next day we walked to the cliffs that over looked the pacific ocean. While meditating I asked the universe for a sign. I made it a point to myself that I was meditating and not praying. I didn’t really want Christianity to be true. After a moment I heard a whisper of a thought suggest opening the Bible that my friend brought.

My friend brought a Bible with us, so I got up and asked him if I could use it. With the Bible in my possession I sat back where I originally was. I wasn’t to going to actually open it to a certain page or passage. How could I? I never really read the Bible before, so I didn’t know where to find any good scriptures.

The wind played and flung the pages. The breeze died down momentarily and stopped at Psalm 64, which in the New King James version says, “Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation.”

It was the word meditation that got me. Then it was as though my soul breathed for the first time.

God Shows Up blog series

Introduction to God Shows Up

To those who do not believe in God He may be a fictional character, distant, or dead. To those who have experienced the real and true God He is very much alive, real, and desires a relationship with His followers. Those who believe in God are His children and each have a different experience with Him.

I have experienced the God of the Bible, and I have a relationship with him. I know He hears my prayers, because He has answered them in His perfect timing.

For a while I’ve wanted to share the love I feel and the experiences I’ve had with God. I was not sure how I would do this. What would be the best way of spreading God’s love? How should I explain the truths of the Bible that I know first hand?

I finally asked an important question. What do people I know want to read? The answer was that at least one person wanted to read about the experiences I’ve had with God.

In this series I will start with that idea, but also expand it. I will be writing stories of answered prayers, times God showed up in my life, and what my spiritual life looks like. Eventually I may even branch out and write about God showing up in other believers’ lives.

Some weeks I will focus on telling a story about my experience, other weeks I will focus on explaining an important area of my spiritual life, and finally other weeks there will be a combination of those styles.

I do hope you enjoy the story of how I see God show up and please, let me know what you think.

Thank you for reading.
